It’s summertime and that means parties and picnics and even the summer Olympic games, so there’s no better time over oversized cocktails (think punch bowls packed with drinks that pack a punch).
Below are some red, white and blue options and French-inspired cocktails to make at home, including a brand new punch to batch and enjoy with friends and help cheer on Team USA. Cheers!
Punch by the Ocean
· Ingredients:
o 8 parts Gray Whale Gin
o 4 parts Lillet Rouge or Cocchi Rosa Vermouth
o 4 parts Watermelon puree
o 4 parts Fresh lemon juice
o 6 parts Ginger beer
o Garnish: Fresh mint
· Instructions:
o Combine all ingredients except ginger beer into large drink vessel. Fill with crushed ice and top with ginger beer. Briefly stir to combine. Garnish with mint.
French 75
· Ingredients:
o 3 parts Prosecco
o 1 part Gray Whale Gin
o ½ part Fresh lemon juice
o ½ part Simple syrup
o Garnish: Lemon twist
· Instructions:
o Combine all ingredients except Prosecco in a shaker and shake vigorously with ice. Strain into coupe or flute and top with Prosecco. Garnish with lemon twist
First Place
Our take on the Gin Rickey, a lower sugar way to enjoy Gray Whale Gin. It features our signature botanical mint along with the classic lime. Topped with soda water for the ultimate refreshment.
· Ingredients:
o 2 parts Gray Whale Gin
o ½ part Fresh Lime Juice
o Club Soda
o Garnish: Mint Sprig and Lime Wheel
· Instructions:
o Fill Collins or highball glass with ice. Add lime juice and gin, and top with club soda. Garnish with lime wheel and mint sprig.
Summer Spritz
This drink combines Gray Whale Gin with white vermouth, elderflower liqueur and prosecco or cava for a fun & floral take on the classic spritz. Topped with soda water for extra refreshment.
· Ingredients:
o 1.5 parts Gray Whale Gin
o 0.5 part Carpano Bianco
o 0.5 part Elderflower Liqueur
o 2 parts Prosecco or Cava
o Club Soda
o Garnish: Lemon twist
· Instructions:
o Add all ingredients to a wine glass and top with ice. Garnish with lemon twist.
Go for the Gold
· Ingredients:
o 1.5 parts Bib & Tucker 6-Year-Old Small Batch Bourbon
o 0.5 part Campari
o 0.5 part Dry Vermouth
o 1 barspoon Walnut Liqueur
o Garnish: Expressed Orange Peel
· Instructions:
o Stir all ingredients together in a mixing glass filled with ice. Strain into a Rocks glass over a large ice cube. Garnish with an expressed orange peel.
