The Sunset Strip is known for nocturnal decadence as it is a definite destination for locals and visitors to see and hear groundbreaking live music. But your night out needs to start somewhere and happy hour is always a good place to begin.
Newcomer Blue Birdy, housed in the former Justin Queso’s space, delivers a solid weekday happy hour from 4-7pm. Owned by Jean Claude who also owns Joxer Daly’s sports bar in Culver City, Blue Birdy boasts a relaxed contemporary dinning spot with a broad menu featuring international and regional dishes, DJs and entertainment with positive vibes on weekends.
The place has been revamped and now features several big screen TVs and a dedicated DJ space and is primed to be the new Sunset Strip party spot.
Happy Hour offers a good Margarita, Mango Daiquiri, Aperol Spritz and Moscow Mule for $11, as well as a $12 Strawberry Field cocktail, and Pineapple Express—think tasty vodka beverage. Happy Hour draft beers includes a $5 Stella and $5 Blue Birdy lager as well as a $6 Lagunitas and $4 bottled Bud Light, $5 bottled Corona and $5 Heineken. Wines are approximately $8 each and shots of Jack Daniels, Fireball, Titos, Captain Morgan, Yager or house tequila are $7. Come to happy hour and good times will follow.
And do come hungry as there are several happy hour food options to choose from. We loved the Asparagus Fries (think super tasty tempura asparagus) along with the Buffalo Cauliflower, and Brussel Sprouts. All three dishes are $8 each and they’re good, hearty options. The $9 Beef Sliders (two sliders per order) were good but you might be better off with an actual burger. The $13 Chicken Caesar Wrap is hearty and healthy and is a good alternative to the usual happy hour high calorie choices.
With indoor and outdoor seating options, Blue Birdy offers a festive setting for dining and drinking shenanigans, especially during happy hour and when you can dine and drink affordably.
Blue Birdy is located at 8917 W. Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood. Open daily. Monday-Thursday from 4pm to 10pm; Friday and Saturday from 11am to 1:30am; Sunday from 11am to 10pm. Call (424) 278-1112.
